It still gets quite hot, but it doesn't shut down. The problems with this case are: 1. Filters and lens covers no longer fit. 2. The front LED is not visible. 3. Push in fairly hard when you turn. If that doesn’t work, try pulling out. Then loosen the screws in the lens just a tad and put it back in then take it off again - then tighten them back up - it might move the rods enough. If that doesn’t work, You can try loosening the screws holding the rods then bending the rods in the lens a little bit
The lens cover is made from extremely tough strengthened glass, but it can still be scratched or cracked. Keep it clean with a soft, lint-free cloth. What can we do if the lens cover is cracked? For Hero 7 black, they sell the cover. Didn't see this on hero 8.
Watch on If the lens is broken: Apply masking tape (or similar) to the front of the lens before attempting the removal of a broken Lens Protector. Removal: Hold the camera securely in the palm of one hand, and use your dominant hand to grip the Protective Lens.
